Overview of the Canon EOS C500 Mark II Cinema Camera

The Canon EOS C500 Mark II stands as one of Canon’s flagship lightweight, compact cinema cameras equipped with a 18.69MP full-frame CMOS sensor and upto 5.9K video output. The C500 Mark II spots a Canon EF mount and features an interchangeable lens mount system for optional switching to Cinema Locking AF or PL mount for an even wider range of glass you can use with this camera. For image processing, C500 Mark II uses a DIG!C DV 7 chip while its sensor provides for over 15 stops of dynamic range and dual pixel autofocus support.

Canon C500 Mark II internally records raw using the Canon Cinema RAW Light codec in 12- or 10-bit, or using the XF-AVC codec in 10-bit to CFexpress cards via two CFexpress card slots in the camera. It also has a built-in SD card slot that allows for 8-bit proxy recording in XF-AVC codes and JPEGs onto an SD card. A variety of gamma settings are available and they include Canon Log 2, Log 3 and a variety of color gamuts including Cinema BT.2020, DCI-P3, and legacy BT.709. LUT importing is also supported and the camera supports four channels of 24-bit, 48 kHz linear PCM audio recording.
