Overview of the Canon EOS C50 Cinema Camera

With a 7K back-illuminated full-frame CMOS sensor, the Canon EOS C50 Cinema Camera is the perfect choice for your photography and videography needs. It is capable of recording 7K60p raw videos, 4k120p 3:2 Open Gate videos and 32MP photos. Other advanced features of the Canon C50 are: simultaneous 2K crop recording, Dual-Pixel CMOS AF II, built-in Frame.io Camera-to-Cloud integration, and XC protocol support for remote control. It has a detachablle top handle with two 3-pin XLR inputs for audio and onboard controls for easy-to-reach adjustments.

Open Gate 3:2 Sensor Mode

Canon C50 is the first Canon Cinema camera to offer Open Gate recording capabilities. To use the full sensor dimensions, select Full Frame 3:2 from the sensor mode section of the main menu. This allows you to use that information in post to crop or reframe your footage to aspect ratios of your choice.

7K Full-Frame CMOS Sensor

The 7K back-illumated full-frame sensor enables this camera to work well in various lighting environments as it creates images with low noise. This maximizes the camera's full 15+ stop dynamic range in full-frame sensor mode while the 7K resolution provides for greater flexibility in post, such as oversampled 4K60 footage.

Internal Raw and High Frame Rate Recording

You can record 7K60 Cinema RAW Light with the C50 camera in three 12-bit recording modes. These are HQ, ST, and LT. You can also record in Standard XF-AVC codec in 10-bit 4:2:2 for rich detail and smooth images at frame rates up to 120 fps without cropping. Fast and slow motion options are also available at up to 4K120 and 2K180.Other recording codecs include XF-AVC S and XF-HEVC S for easy-to-manage naming systems and folder structures while preserving metadata.

Dual-Pixel CMOS AF II

Whether recording in fast or slow motion, you cann keep your subject in focus with the Dual-Pixel CMOS AF II that allows for speeds of upto 4K120 and 2K150. Focus is also aided by this camera's improved light-capturing efficiency which widens the area of the sensor that can be used for autofocus. An internal subject detection algorithm with deep learning technology allows you to set face/eye detection to left or right eye priority in both humans and animals/birds.

Native Vertical Shooting UI

Canon C50 supports vertical shooting with its UI featuring touch controls for start/stop recording as well as other shooting controls, menu settings, and LCD brightness adjustments.

Crop Recording

When shooting in UHD 4K or DCI resoultions, you can choose between 9:17, 9:16, or 1:1 format options to crop down your image and it will be saved in 2K resolution.

The Full-Frame sensor offers a shallow depth of field with a pleasant bokeh, using a standard ISO of up to 64,000 and you can reach a maximum of 40 shots per second during high-speed continuous shooting
