Overview of the Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Mic

Sennheiser MKE 600 is a battery or phantom powered directional shotgun microphone that is also characterised with resistance to structure-borne noise for excellent results. The mic is highly sensitive and has low-noise circuitry for improved quality of sound without extreme gain on noisy camera preamps. With a natural roll-off at 40 Hz and a selectable low-cut filter at 100 Hz, the MKE 600 can deliver clear intelligibility while attenuating low-frequency noise such as rumble. Additionally, this mics frequency response incorporates a gentle rise in treble to enhance speech clarity.

Sennheiser MKE 600 is also made up of lightweight and also strong metallic housing for durability. The package includes a shockmount with a cold shoe thus allowing for its use on a camera or trippod. To use the mic, slip an AA battery in the battery compartment and connect the mic to your camera using the supplied XLR to 3.5mm cable or a XLR out to XLR-equipped mic preamp.

Windscreen Shield

The MKE 600 microphone comes with foam windscreen that helps to reduce unwanted noise by up to 25 dB from wind breeze when recording outdoors or fans and air conditioners when inside. You can also add optional winshields for enhanced attenuation while for maximum reduction of noise, a shockmount suspension system can be used (sold separately).
